Registration and Entry Process

  • Best of BEGA is an annual lighting design competition highlighting the best work in the industry, recognizing projects for their innovation, excellence, and creativity.

    Entering the competition is an opportunity to bring even more recognition to your projects and compete against the best in the industry.

  • Architects, Lighting Designers, Landscape Architects – whoever is responsible for the lighting design.

  • You will need the following information to enter:

    • Entrant Name
    • Contact Info – phone, email
    • Project Name
    • Project Location
    • Completion Date
    • Lighting Designer

  • Yes, your project must feature at least one BEGA luminaire.

  • Yes, projects must have been completed within the past 3 years.

  • Once you submit your project, you will receive a confirmation email.

  • The project must be located in the United States, Canada, or Latin America.

  • Conceptual designs may not be submitted. Completed projects only.

  • Yes, projects that have already won an award in another competition may be submitted.

  • Yes, you or your firm may submit more than one project. You must fill out one submission form for every project you’d like to enter.

  • Yes, if your project was not chosen as a winner or honorable mention you can resubmit it as long as it meets our completion date requirements.

  • Yes, you can still submit your project as long as it meets all entry requirements.

Judging

  • The judging for Best of BEGA is both blind and rigorous and includes four rounds of review. Judges do not know the identities of the entrants, and neither the guest judge nor the guest judge’s firm may participate in the competition for the year.

  • Best of BEGA has five judges:

    • Don Kinderdick, President of BEGA North America
    • Scott Sorensen, VP of Sales & Marketing at BEGA North America
    • Rachel Mundstock, Solutions Engineering Manager at BEGA North America
    • Katie Teman, Product Manager at BEGA North America
    • Guest Judge to be announced at a later date

  • Projects will be judged on five different categories: Originality & Innovation, Lighting Techniques, Harmonious Design, Experience, and Artistry.

  • Due to countless submissions, the judges are unable to provide individual feedback on submissions.

Winning Details

  • Winners will be announced via email, social media, and website news post. Winners will be notified via email prior to public announcement.

  • There is one winner of Best of BEGA, which is determined by judges and presented to the project that represents world-class, unparalleled lighting design. Judges will also designate honorable mentions for those projects that demonstrate noteworthy lighting design.

  • First place winner will receive:

    • 3-night trip for four to Santa Barbara, including hotel and airfare with transportation to and from airport and option of weekend activities
    • Project featured on BEGA website
    • Email announcement of winner
    • Best of BEGA winner’s badge
    • Featured on social media
    • Professional photography of project
    • Private tour of BEGA facility

  • Winners will be notified via email.

Deadlines

  • Open for entry: February 28, 20234

    Closed for entry: May 1, 2024

  • Winners will be announced in Summer 2023.
